We took a little road trip this past weekend to Columbia, SC. We had some time to goof off Saturday morning and decided to go to the Jak Smyrl exhibit at the McKissick Museum on the campus of The University of South Carolina. What a treat it was! If you are not familiar with his work, Smyrl told his stories through cartoons and illustrations while working at The State and Columbia Record newspapers, and was certainly one of, if not the, best at his profession. If you have the opportunity to be anywhere near the area between now and January 23rd, I would highly recommend a visit. We were mesmerized. Could have spent hours if we’d had the time.
