Storytelling Deford’s best game
He has always been one of my favorites and will surely go down as one of the greats.
“I never set out to be a sportswriter,” said Deford, who started his career at Sports Illustrated in 1962. “I always thought someday, someday I’ll grow up and become a real writer.”

Storytellers (and liars) perfect the art of crafting tales

“The past century has seen the emergence of new forms of storytelling media, such as motion pictures, comic books, and television. Each one…some slowly, some quickly…has come to be accepted as a form of narrative and art. Another new medium, video games, has also come to prominance in recent years. As the industy grows, so does its potential to emerge as a vehicle of storytelling and maybe even art form.”

Milbre’s is truly a tale worth telling
What a wonderful storyteller she must be.
Pretty darn savvy 4th grader!
“As you tell a story, you make stuff up along the way … and when you ask people for ideas they give you good ideas. Then you can write a story.” – anonymous 4th grader.

This looks like it’s going to be a very nice place to spend some time.
“A virtual fire-side for real stories. Come in, pull up a chair, share a tale or two and soak up the adventures of others. And what kind of stories? Well, the possibilities are endless and defined only by those who drop-by and tell theirs.”

Growing up on border shaped bicultural storyteller
A nice article on novelist and storyteller Luis Alberto Urrea.
Review: Storyteller Ira Glass charms local audience with performance at Laxson
“Glass spoke to a format of story-telling comprised of telling a series of actions, which inherently create suspense in the listener, and then reflecting on those actions and coming to a deeper conclusion. He said this helps the listener identify with the universal themes of the story in a way that traditional reporting cannot accomplish.”
Big Head Small Brain: Plagiarism is where storytelling is born
“Creative storytelling is nurtured in a society through children copying the old stories and growing up to adapt them to new audiences.”
“Looking back, I wish I would have taken some acting and improv classes along the way. It would have added more texture to what I do on stage, and not hurt me at all.”
I’m betting that Bill Ratner would like that Dobie Maxwell is thinking this way.
