What are the 10 most important books for PR, Marketing and Social Media professionals?

by Gregg on June 11, 2009

essential booksFast Company ran a piece yesterday titled The 30 Most Important Books for Product Designers. That got me to thinking about the most important books for those of us in the PR, Marketing and Social Media space. Here’s a first pass at mine. They are not ordered. Yet. Maybe that’s another post.

  • The Cluetrain Manifesto
  • Groundswell
  • Here Comes Everybody
  • The New Rules of Marketing and PR
  • Marketing to the Social Web
  • Putting the Public Back in Public Relations
  • All Marketers Are Liars (and all of his other books)
  • Naked Conversations
  • Confessions of an Advertising Man
  • The Back of the Napkin

  • There are several books on stories and story telling that I’d include if it was more than 10. And, Word of Mouth Marketing and World Wide Rave would be there too. Chris Brogan and Julien Smith’s forthcoming Trust Agents is likely to crack the top 10 as well. What are your favorites? Did I miss anything that you consider critical?
