I remember reading Patricia Seybold’s “The Customer Revolution” in late March of 2001 and having one of those “ah hah” moments after finishing it. It was, I thought, one of the seminal books of the time. There was no question in my mind that she was right on the money. Control was going to be ceded to the customer and the sooner all of us in business “got it” the better off we would be.

Well, I got it but I never could sell it totally within the company I was working for. Whether that was my problem or theirs is stuff for another post. Now, almost eight years later, comes what I think might be another seminal book from Jeff Jarvis, What Would Google Do? I’ll put up a full review sometime later this week but for now suffice it to say that Jarvis not only “gets it” he “explains it”. As very few have been able to do. And he does that not just for those “in the know” he does it for the average Joe as well. If you are having trouble coming to grips with the new world order, Google and the niche economy, and what it means to you as an individual, a business or an organization I would encourage you to get to Amazon’s site or down to your closest Barnes and Noble and get a copy as quickly as you can. And if you are one of the gazillion people out of work right now you might want to get there quicker. You can find his blog at Buzzmachine where he’s in the process of posting parts of the book for the next 28 days. Enjoy.
